At Toongabbie Primary School, addressing the needs of students and enabling them to achieve their best is what motivates us in the work we do every day. As teachers, we are privileged to educate the future leaders, creators and citizens of our world and as such it is my belief that we must treat them with the respect, care and attention that we wish them to exercise in their adult lives.
Our students are considered as individuals when our staff team craft the best approach to teaching and learning. As a result our students are developing as self-motivated and thoughtful learners who meet challenges with a sense of wonder and enthusiasm. Our team approach also ensures that no student “falls through the cracks”, each child is closely monitored and parents actively involved in their progress.
Our teaching and ES staff work collegiately to deliver a curriculum based on well-researched whole school approaches. As a team we create approaches that enable us to consider the individual learning needs of each child and to assess their progress and map out future teaching and learning strategies. The whole school approaches include our reading and writing program, Jolly Phonics for Foundations students, Spelling Mastery and a numeracy program that focuses on placing maths in the real world and problem solving.
Our award winning School Wide Positive Behaviour Support program has made a great impact on our school community. We are proud to say that we are now a mentor school for others embarking on implementing the SWPBS framework. As part of SWPBS, we work with our students to develop a positive mindset, encouraging them to be conscious of their own learning strengths and challenges and to recognize their potential to learn and adapt.
At Toongabbie Primary School we offer a comprehensive and rigorous program to our students including German language, music, fine arts, science and sustainability and physical education. We also focus on building leadership skills in our students through various programs and opportunities.
Please spend some time getting to know us through the information on this website. If you have further questions or would like a tour of our school, please contact our office and we will be more than happy to help.

At Toongabbie Primary School, we have consciously chosen not to have a school bell to indicate different times during the school day. Teaching staff have made this choice in an effort to create an atmosphere where children are responsible for their own actions and monitoring their own movements throughout the day. This also promotes time-telling skills and communication skills amongst the children.
School commences: 9.00am
Morning Recess: 11.00 -11.30am
Lunch Break: 1.00 - 1.45pm
School Dismissal: 3.15pm
On normal days, teachers will be on duty between 8.45 and 3.30. Children should not be at school outside these times.
